"I write for two reasons. First of all I like to lie and that's an acceptable way of lying, and second, I have this resentment that I have only one life. So that if I'm happily married, I would like to see what it would be like to be unhappily married or what it's like to go live in a boat house...This is my way of doing it...I am writing more just so I could lead these other lives."
~ Anne Tyler, at her alma mater, Duke University, 1974 ~
Get your pen scribbling across the page and write what you’ve been dreaming of doing, stimulated by prompts from a veteran writing teacher that are aimed at helping you hone your skills on everything from description to dialogue. All you need is a notebook and a fast writing pen.
If you are currently working on a project (stories, memoir, poetry, nonfiction, or novel), use the exercises for enhancing your works-in-progress. If you have wished to write but haven’t gotten around to it, here is an opportunity to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) in a supportive workshop environment.
